Squibb Group won a competitive tender to demolish defunct buildings on the Sanofi-Aventis 108 acre campus in Dagenham, Essex. Working in close collaboration with the Client, Sanofi- Aventis, we developed a comprehensive and technically capable demolition and decommissioning strategy.
Squibb Group was able to demonstrate to the Client, substantial technical awareness and our open, collaborative partnering approach. The Dagenham site in Essex had been used for many years as a pharmaceutical processing site ( producing cancer drug treatments ) and many buildings had extensively contaminated equipment and plant.
Squibb Group successfully completed a running programme of demolition and decontamination at Dagenham over an extended period. Our remit was to conduct surveys, decommissioning (De- planting), decontamination, removal of all assets and then demolition of all infrastructure to slab level, (including former workshops and offices across the site).
In addition, all arisings were crushed to 6f2 specification, and we remediated contamination hot-spots on site. All demolition arisings were then removed from site.
The pharmaceutical production and processing industry is heavily regulated and to comply with the Clients’ stipulations and regulatory procedures, all work was extensively logged, photographically recorded and dated.
Works included the removal of large quantities of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs), careful dismantling of production plant and machinery, demolition of the site to ground slab level with all arisings being taken off site for disposal/recycling at our licensed facilities.
